Course Description:
Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a discipline effectively as old as trade itself. Nevertheless, effective SCM practices are widely regarded as the greatest driver of success for businesses and organizations that persist in today’s globalized industry. A firm’s supply chain consists of all operational processes that create value for the firm. Supply Chain Management (SCM) is an approach for managing the entire supply chain – the seamless flow of goods, services, and information from suppliers to customers. Therefore, it involves the coordination of multiple value-creating processes that typically fragmented and dispersed across organizational and national boundaries. This fragmentation creates opportunities as well as challenges from the perspective of a firm’s decision making.
This Programme focuses on the different dimensions of supply chain management such as network planning, coordination, distribution strategies, procurement, and outsourcing strategies, etc. This course aims at the development of the participants’ understanding of different supply chain concepts along with the strategic thinking and analytical skill required to solve the real-life problems.

Prof. Krishna Kumar Dadsena
Assistant Professor
Prof. Amit Sachan has been with IIM Ranchi since 2011. He holds a BTech in Industrial Engineering from IIT Roorkee and a Fellow (Integrated MBA and PhD) from MDI Gurgaon. Before academia, he worked as Service Manager at AON Hewitt. He is the author of Smart Stats: Business Statistics with ChatGPT (Notion Press 2025), Business Statistics Using Python (McGraw-Hill, 2024) and co-author of the 12th edition of Operations Management: Sustainability and Supply Chain Management. He also attended Harvard Business School’s Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning (GLOCOLL, 2014). His research spans applied statistics, emerging technologies, and service operations, with numerous publications in reputed journals. At IIM Ranchi, he teaches Business Statistics, Operations Research, Revenue Management, and Service Operations.
Prof. Krishna Kumar Dadsena holds his PhD from IIT Kharagpur. His teaching areas are Operations Research, Logistics and Warehousing Management, Operations Management, Decision Science. He has designed and delivered Operations Management elective courses across MBA, MBA (Executive), and PhD programmes. His current research areas are Sustainable Transportation Management, Digital Supply Chain, Risk Management, Circular Economy. His research has been published in some of the world’s leading Journals such as A* and A category. He has also presented his work in reputed international conferences such as 27th Annual meet Production and Operations Management (POMS), Orlando, USA, 2016 and INFORMS Annual Meeting, Phoenix, USA, 2018. Outside IIM Ranchi, he has taught courses in IIM Raipur and IMT Ghaziabad.

Assessment: The performance of participants will be monitored on a continuous evaluation basis through quizzes and assignments.
Note: Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will become eligible to apply for the prestigious Executive Education Alumni status of IIM Ranchi. To avail this status, a separate application along with a registration fee of INR 10,000 plus applicable taxes is required.
